Pump Up Your Weekend Plans with This Colorful Performance by Sting
Sting: Both during his tenure as the frontman for The Police and in his solo career, Sting has remained one of the most talented singer-songwriters of all time. In addition to selling out major stadium tour dates around the world, Sting has also released seven platinum solo albums, many of those going multi-platinum. Sting is also well known for his score and soundtrack contributions, which have led to his more recent, classical albums, including Symphonicities. It's these classic reinterpretations of Sting's hit singles that fans can expect to enjoy on tour dates in 2011.
The Police were formed in 1977 and quickly rose to fame after the release of their first single, "Roxanne." The Police's next two albums would also yield smash hit singles written by Sting, including "Message In a Bottle", "Don't Stand So Close to Me", and "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da." It was during this time that The Police performed voluminous tour dates around the world that brought them international fame. By the time The Police dissolved in 1986, Sting's first solo album, The Dream of Blue Turtles, had already gone triple platinum and won a Grammy, leading to the artist's first ever, solo tour dates. Sting continued to release albums that bridged generational gaps, including Brand New Day in 1999, which quickly went triple platinum and earned the artist three Grammys.
Sting is currently finishing up 2011 tour dates for his Symphonicity Tour, which concludes at the end of July. Fans in Italy and France will enjoy classical arrangements of Sting's hit singles as the singer is assisted by a full orchestral backing. With so few 2011 tour dates left for this music icon, fans should buy their tickets quickly.
