This Tense Drama Will Have You on the Edge of Your Seat—Do Not Miss It at Union Station

Formed by a veteran collective of artists, Kansas City Actors Theatre brings professional drama to Kansas City in a vibrant presentation for the virtual age. Each production is an experience, bringing the actors and their words into focus. This season, the group will host the opening night of Marsha Norman’s ’night, Mother on January 11th at 7:30 PM.

A Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Marsha Norman’s ’night, Mother is the story of a woman driven to her breaking point. Jessie is a middle-aged woman living with her widowed mother, Thelma. One night, she calmly tells Thelma that she plans to commit suicide that very evening. She makes this revelation all while nonchalantly organizing household items and preparing to do her mother's nails.

The resulting intense conversation between Jessie and Thelma reveals Jessie's reasons for her decision and how thoroughly she has planned her own death, culminating in a disturbing yet unavoidable climax. A harsh reflection on modern life and its purpose, the psychological exploration of this show will leave an indelible impression.

’night, Mother will be directed by Sidonie Garrett, who previously directed A Streetcar Named Desire for KCAT and has extensively directed for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival. Tickets are $22.00 to $47.00. For tickets and additional information, visit www.kcactors.org.
